Diabetes / Clinical Nutrition

Diabetes Education:
The Diabetes Education Centre has a Registered Dietitian and Registered Nurse who see both inpatients and outpatients. Services are available for prediabetes, Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes, gestational diabetes and pregnancy in Type 1 diabetes. Some of the services provided include:

• Education for the prevention of diabetes to complex management using various insulin regimes, including insulin pumps and glucose meters and sensors
• Multidisciplinary team approach for diabetes and healthy lifestyle working in collaboration with various organizations / health centres / physicians / nurse practitioners / midwives and allied health care professionals to provide optimal care to our clients.
• Client support virtually and in-person

Clinical Nutrition:

• The Registered Dietitian also provides nutrition counseling on a variety of topics including healthy eating for prediabetes and diabetes, grocery shopping on a budget, weight management, increasing protein and calories for malnutrition, gastric health issues, hypertension, and dyslipidemia
